Homemade Groceries

Simple Sugar-Free Cappuccino Mix

I had an “oh, no” moment the other day. I’m not a big coffee drinker, mostly because I don’t like it as strong as most people. But I do love my cappuccino in the mornings. I had forgotten that I had used the last of it the day before. This was a problem.

However, I did remember that I had some instant coffee and sugar-free creamer in the cabinet, as well as Stevia, so I made up a cup of coffee. Crisis avoided. While I was drinking it, I realized it was very similar to cappuccino.

I finally decided to dig out my recipes for my homemade cappuccino. I don’t know how I had forgotten about the homemade cappuccino mixes, except maybe I didn’t drink it or coffee for a couple of years until this past fall when I saw it on the grocery shelf and it sounded so good.

If you don’t mind using store brands, these homemade cappuccino mixes are pretty inexpensive to make, and taste almost as good as brand name mixes. Not quite as rich, but still delicious!

I seriously can’t tell the difference in taste between using regular creamer and sugar, and using sugar-free creamer and artificial sweetener other than I don’t have indigestion issues with the sugar-free versions.

Recipe Notes

  • You can adjust the different measurements to suit your tastes.
  • I included the cinnamon and nutmeg in the ingredient lists, but I don’t add either to my homemade mixes.
  • If desired, run the mix through the blender a couple of minutes to make a finer mix for easier dissolving. If the water is slightly boiling though, it’s not an issue dissolving the mix.
  • Even though these recipes are sugar-free, they are not calorie-free.

For dairy free version, use Powdered Coconut Milk in place of the sugar-free creamer or powdered milk, and add Powdered Vanilla for the vanilla taste.

Note: Both of these recipes were adapted from recipes in an old “Make Your Own Groceries” type cookbook that I had years ago.
