Simplest Proven Way to Lose Weight

Did you gain the Quarantine 15? (Or 20, or 30 pounds? You are not alone. When life is stressful, a lot of times people will turn to comfort foods. Throw that extra eating into the mix of little activity, no wonder so many people gained weight.

Or maybe you have struggled with your weight for years, watching it steadily go up. Or jumped on the yo-yo diet roller coaster. I’ve struggled with my weight for most of my adult life, more so in the last decade being on steroids. I was getting desperate to lose weight, so I researched and wrote a post awhile back on eating a Whole Food diet and another post on Inflammation caused by the foods we eat. I had expected to drop a few pounds eating healthier, but the scales didn’t move.

Free 3 Day Challenge

Fast forward a few weeks to the 11th of June, I finally clicked on a sponsored ad for a FREE 3 Day Challenge in my Facebook newsfeed that I had been seeing for several days. The old adage “The teacher appears when the student is ready”. That is how I felt about Amanda Rose, the founder of Eat Like A Bear and a private Facebook group. I have tried just about every diet out there, and I promise you, this is the simplest and most successful “diet” I have ever tried. I didn’t even have to exercise to lose the weight! I’ll share my results at the bottom of this post.

I jumped on that 3 Day Challenge! I signed up for it and printed out the instruction sheet! I had just finished eating lunch, so I decided I would start the challenge the next day and not eat again till the next afternoon.

Century Club

Your big question is “Does this really work?” Well, Amanda lost #140! HALF her weight! This plan started up a couple of years ago after her success, and there are about 50 others who have already lost #100. Yes, 100 pounds! It looks like in the next 6 months, there will be a whole lot more people joining the “Century Club”. By the way, although this works for all ages, men and women, there is a good percentage of women over 50, and a bunch in the 70’s and 80’s!

This is absolutely the most supportive group of people I have ever seen and their stories are truly inspiring! Amanda has numerous videos with amazing recipes and wonderful information to help everyone along the way.

Keto & Intermittent Fasting

This way of eating is pretty simple, following a Keto diet, and combining it with Intermittent Fasting. I’m sure you already know that a Keto diet is a low-carb, high-fat diet, whereas “Intermittent Fasting works by prolonging the period when your body has burned through the calories consumed during your last meal and begins burning fat.” Source

I know Intermittent Fasting sounds scary and sounds unhealthy, but it’s only short term fasting being anywhere from 16 hours to 23 hours a day and then eating between specific hours of your choosing. Many members do an occasional longer fast of 42 to 72 hours, however I promise you, it is not necessary. If you want to learn more, this is a wonderful book by Dr. Fung.

Although simple, this way of eating is not easy in that some people go through withdrawals from carbs and snacking. For me, I had to wrap my brain around the fact that I did not need to eat 3 meals a day plus a snack, even healthy snacks.

Diet Benefits

It’s also a money saver, as you are eating less often and not buying processed foods or snacks foods. Plus there are no drugs, surgery or expensive branded products required.

Another bonus for a lot of people are those major ailments that develop in those of us carrying all that extra weight, are our bodies are improving greatly. I’m sure your own doctor has told you “if you just lost the weight….”

This way of eating is not just about losing weight. I’ve learned to stop obsessing over food, I am feeling so much better overall, I have more energy, my breathing is better and I have more control over my compulsive eating habits. I’m even sleeping a little better.

My Results

Ok, are you ready to read my results? Drum roll, please! I am pretty amazed with my results. In 61 days, I lost 22.5 pounds, 10.5 inches and 2 sizes. Hubby joined me a week or so later, and is down 27 pounds and 4 pant sizes.

Update Nov 11, 2020: After 5 months, I’ve lost 48# and 18.5″. Hubby has lost 55# and dropped SIX pant sizes!

As Amanda says often, “Pull your boot straps up, and you can do it!”

  1. I just finished The Obesity Code today, and got so much out of it regarding insulin and weight gain/loss. From my biomedical studies, I knew insulin regulation is very important in homeostasis, but I hadn’t realize that it was a very important component for weight loss.

  2. Oh my gosh, I love this post. I am saving it for my favorites at the end of the month to share with others. Big Congratulations to you. I have half a thyroid because part of my thyroid was removed a couple years ago and I have always struggled with weight…no fun that’s for sure. Thanks Robin.
