Easy Homemade Salsa Seasoning Mix Recipe

This is an easy mix to make up ahead of time and keep on the pantry shelf. I use it frequently to make a simple salsa with canned diced tomatoes to dress up a few of my favorite recipes after they come out of the oven or as a topping for scrambled eggs, or in place of salad dressing on salads once in awhile. There is no cooking involved and the salsa is so much fresher-tasting. Add diced onions and peppers to the tomatoes and seasoning mix to make a fresh regular style salsa to enjoy with chips.

Tomatoes are super healthy, being rich in antioxidants and vitamins. You just can’t go wrong adding tomatoes as often as possible to your meals. The peppers and herbs in the salsa seasoning mix add a bit of healthy goodness too!

Easy Homemade Salsa Mix

This makes 25 tablespoons of mix. Printable Recipe

  • 1/2 cup dried crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 cup dried onion flakes
  • 3 Tbsp dried cilantro
  • 2 Tbsp dried minced garlic
  • 2 Tbsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp dried parsley flakes

Measure the ingredients into a pint jar. Put the lid on and shake the jar to mix together well. Be sure to label the jar with the name of the mix. I also put a little piece of masking tape on the bottom of the back side that says “1 – 2 Tbsp per pint”.

NOTE:  Start with the lesser amount of mix until you determine your favorite heat level. I generally use 2 slightly heaping spoons.

To use:  ALWAYS shake the jar well before using, then mix 1 -2 Tbsp of mix to a can of diced tomatoes. Add diced onions and bell peppers, if desired.

  1. SOUNDS GREAT!!!!!! I hope you are okay with this…I’d like to nominate you for the Sunshine Blogger Award.I know this is extremely short notice, as I’m doing the post in just a short while and you probably won’t see this until later today. If you don’t want to do an award post you don’t have to. I nominated Diane from Diane’s Kitchen the last time I was nominated and she didn’t do a post for it and it was okay. It’s going to take me a while to get my post in order and to think up answers to the questions I’m supposed to answer. So it’s going to be a while before I actually get the whole shebang posted. So, one way or another, I hope you have a SUPER GREAT SUNDAY!!!!
